I don't ever want to forget how much I love my son right at this moment. And I don't ever want to forget how much he loves me. He'll do anything to make me smile.
A few minutes ago we were sitting on the couch and Van had the remote in his hand. He accidentally bonked his head with it pretty hard. I try really hard not to be the overprotective parent who freaks anytime their child gets hurt, so I just looked at him and laughed and said, "uh oh".
Seeing my reaction, he looked a little confused at first. He looked at me, then at the remote. Back to me. Back to the remote. And then he bonked his head with it again. He looked at me with this proud grin.
This repeated for the next 30 seconds or so. Every once in a while, he would realize again, "This really doesn't feel good." And he would lay his head on my shoulder and whine a little. But then he would look at me and bonk his head again.
Van has gotten so aware of the things around him, and he loves to make me happy. Even if it comes at his own expense apparently.
Dear Van,
I love you. You make me happy every day.
Love,
Mama
p.s. You don't have to do things to make me smile if they hurt. FYI
p.s.s I love you around the world and touching.

What a cute story. Poor little guy must love you!! What a sweetie.
haha cute van. :0) He must be a boy! They'll do anything to please their mommas...not saying hurting himself is pleasing you...
Let me start over: Brock loves to show off...even when it's not the most safest thing to do! And he always yells, "MOM! WATCH!" right when I'm yelling (in my head), No! Don't do that! hahaha
I just read this and his 10 month post. I cried!! You are such a great mom! All those little things you love about Van, I love too. I miss having him at our house. We had so much fun with the little guy. Send him back - Boys are our specialty. But, I guess he'd miss his mama too much.
